Frequently Asked Questions

When will the parkade be reopened?

We are aiming to have the parkade opened by mid August. The parkade has now been cleaned and dried, and tested for structural soundness. Before we can allow residents in to the parkade however, it must be thoroughly sanitized and have operable exhaust air systems (to prevent carbon monozide buildup from cars). This is what is being worked on now.

When will elevators be ready?

A schedule for elevator repair is not avaiable at this time, although early indications are that this will take several months to complete. We are working with the contractors to determine the quickest way to restore vertical transport, as we understand this is very important to residents, especially on the upper floors. Temporary solutions are being explored, as are schedule reducing opportunities. We will update on this as soon as the best option has been determined. Please keep in mind that the building only has "partial occupancy" which means all systems are not working properly. The flooding was a catastrophic event and unfortunately not all systems can be repaired quickly.

Why are there so few temporary parking passes available?

There is very limited space on the surface lot. Room is needed for construction workers and equipment movement. We must limit the number of resident cars to allow construction to proceed without delay and for the safety of the residents and workers. Limiting the number of resident cars also assists with keeping the site secure.

Why are building doors being left open, it doesn't seem safe?

Construction workers need the access to work as quickly as they can; having key fobs made for each construction worker or crew would create a whole new challenge. We have attempted to maintain a high level of security through 24-hour staffed security services and the sign-in system for residents and cars. Furthermore, no one is allowed on site unless they are working for the project or are accompanied by a resident or owner. It is anticipated that the regular security program will be re-instated in parallel with the parkade's re-opening.

The garbage room isn't accessible, what do I do with waste?

The garbage bins from the waste room have been temporarily relocated outside of Chateau 30 (between entrance and parkade ramp). This is adjacent to the temporary fenced-in resident walkway. Please dispose of garbage here. Regular pick-ups have commenced as of July 22.

The parkade is not yet available to residents. Please park on the adjacent field's lot, or in a legal street parking area. CPA has relaxed the time restictions (i.e. 2 hour stalls) for the time being, but will ticket or tow cars parking in "no parking" zones. See the attachment for restrictions on Discovery Ridge Lane. Also please avoid regular no parking areas such as in front of driveways, fire hydrants, etc.

Is the complex secure from looters?

Every effort is being made to secure the premises at this time. There is a team of security guards on duty 24/7, and all individuals must sign in at a check-in desk and be escorted through the property. Fencing has also been erected around the grounds to control pedestrian and vehicle traffic. If you see suspicious activities, please report them to a security guard.

How much flood water entered the building?

Chateau 10 parkade was filled to ceiling height with flood water. Chateau 20 & 30 parkade had approximately 5' of flood water. Villas had 3' of flood water enter their bottom floors.

Was there damage to suites?

The property manager has conducted a review of suites. There was damage to each villa, and 3 units in the Chateau buildings as well (known at this time). Please report any flood related damage to the property manager ASAP upon re-entry.

How much damage was caused?

A significant portion of the building's mechanical & electrical systems are stored inthe parkade, and will require replacement. Finishes and other moisture sensitive materials were also damaged or destroyed, such as insulation, flooding, drywall, and many of the residents' storage locker units.

My car was damaged, what do I do?

The condominium insurance policy does not cover cars, bicycles etc. Review your automoblie and house insurance policies, and contact your personal insurers if your belongings were damaged. Flooded cars must be removed from the parking areas immediately to facilitate restoration. Cars remining on the property will be removed by July 15 to facilitate restoration and cleaning.

What about my storage locker?

All storage lockers were affected by the flood. Residents were asked to empty their storage locker on July 12-14 and remove items that are salvagable. These salvagable items should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected (bleach, vinegar, baking soda, etc) ASAP. Supplies may be available at a local volunteer station. Articles remaining in lockers that were damaged will be disposed of for the safety of residents.
